York College is ranked Yorkshire’s No 1 General Further Education College with first-class resources designed for post-16 students.<br><br>This, combined with an Outstanding Ofsted grade (December 2013) and the highest standards for individual student achievement, provides a first-class environment for teaching and learning. The College has state of the art facilities including; a new Construction Skills Centre, the Alan Ayckbourn Theatre, Ashfields restaurant, hair and beauty salons and nail bar, a 3G sports pitch and multi-use games area, engineering and construction workshops, art and design studios and a Learning Centre on three floors equipped with the latest technology. Some College facilities can also be hired for commercial use and external events.<br><br>As the largest educational provider for 16-19-year-olds in the region, offering around 40 A Level subjects (in almost any combination), currently York College is rated in the top three colleges in the country (based on A-Level points per entry).<br><br>Often described as the ideal stepping stone between school and university or employment, with a ‘junior university' ethos, students learn the right skills and receive the necessary support to achieve their goals.<br><br>The College provides excellent preparation for university with 1,000 students submitted university applications this year. The College also offers specific support to students aiming for top universities, including an opportunity to study the Extended Project Qualification, a nationally recognised qualification which carries the same UCAS points as an AS Level.<br><br>York College also offers 80 Vocational programmes, covering a huge range of subjects, everything from Sport & Public Services to Child Studies, Performing Arts, Business and Hospitality. With numerous apprenticeship programmes available, enabling students to earn whilst they learn, the College’s Business Development Unit works effectively with 600 employers to help them recruit apprentices to the right jobs, and the team provides bespoke training to help businesses achieve their own individual goals. York College also offers degree level courses for full and part-time study, validated by local universities.<br><br>There’s a full range of higher education and professional study programmes, with a mixture of full and part-time courses. The College's higher education fees are significantly less than those charged by universities and each year hundreds of York College students graduate at a prestigious ceremony held in York Minster. And finally, Adult learners can study a variety of subjects, from professional qualifications to courses for fun, ranging from accountancy to art & design.
