Media Culture and Journalism

My university experience is awesome; the coursework we get is great. I'm glad I don't sit any exams as they aren't for me. My lectures will forever hold a place in my heart as they all do an amazing job. When I graduate, they'll be the first I'll thank and give a lot of credit to for the job they do. I love going to university so much; it's better than a 9-5 job I have no interest in. Craig Hooper, James Rendell, Steve Johnson, Tim Galsworthy, Rebecca Matthews, and Peter Jachimiach are the best lecturers out there. No one can tell me otherwise. At first, I thought university wasn't for me until my open day and saw James teaching everyone there. That's when I knew this is going to be an experience to remember!

Uni life as a chiro student

(5)·By Courtney G·Chiropractic· Jun 2023
University is hard. It is a challenge but is completely worth it. It opens you up to so many opportunities from new friends to new hobbies.
University friends stay with you for life. They're some of the best people you will ever meet.

I personally have loved the social life uni gives you. It keeps you busy all the time but let's you chose when you want to slow down and pick things back up again. It's the best opportunity for training yourself how to adult properly !

I don't like the early uni morning! But who does ;) 9am is the worst!

My advice when starting uni is to try new things don't be scared everyone is genuinely lovely and everyone is there to help!

University of south wales experience

(5)·By Courtney D·Nursing· Jun 2023
I am studying nursing at university. The university has a range of learning opportunities from simulation centres, placement opportunities, lecture theatres number libraries in different locations. The exams and assignments have been spread out evenly across the modules so that they're manageable. They have an online system called blackboard which contains all announcements, events, dates, learning materials etc. I would highly recommend !

Law / Legal Studies, Year 3

It was quite quiet compared to what I saw on social media. But the SU did what they could with what they had, still had the option to go into Cardiff for the freshers events as well I used private rent accommodation due to not wanting to go into halls. I had a halls room as a back up in case things fell through they were good with allocation and communication. Private rent companies aren't that great in the area, my second year accommodation was the best but switched hands to an awful letting agency Library was huge with so many books to collect - can sometimes be hard to find due to the layout but there are signs on the end of the bookcases. Easy to follow booking system - never had a fine due to this. On campus gym which has good facilities at a reasonable price and the SU is fine - slightly overpriced in entry fee for what you get but you can always have a good night there The course has great staff who will help you with anything, no question is deemed stupid. Coursework marks are returned on time with in depth feedback and option to follow up after to discuss. Good communication from lecturers Pontypridd campus was based just outside of the city which was fine - getting to Cardiff is quite easy. Better to have a car or car share to get groceries though

Amazing! So welcoming, had events on in both the SU and in Cardiff. Best weeks to begin your uni experience Glamorgan courts- little dim in lightening but has everything you needed including on suit and mini fridge in the room Really good! Everything was available most of the times, really great sport facilities. SU although small was amazing because you felt apart of a lot and became friends with all years Lecturers where so understanding and caring. Would help you through so much. The lectures although could be tedious a points all facilitated towards the end goal, and you learn some really amazing things along the way. The uni has great external links too for work experiences and post jobs EPIC, especially during rugby home games, can't beat a night out in the ‘diff and transport to abs from was super easy

It was fun! Really good vibes and very informative! Helped a lot with nerves. Very nice, modern and comfortable with great staff and facilities! The rooms were big and perfect for the Advertising environment with great equipment. The and the Student bar (which had great food) and library were my personal heavens. It was very informative because of the background tutors had. There were also speeches and trips from/to agencies which were inspiring! Cardiff was a great city, very warm, welcoming and perfect for students!

Amazing! So much fun and met some really great people. the accommodation was perfect, very modern and trendy. Library is massive, the SU is convenient and cheap. The lecturers are amazing, really good at giving in depth talks. The classes are small and intimate. Everyone’s always there to help.. The city is perfect, so many shop choices and easy access to everything. It’s mostly coursework based, don’t join if you want exams
