Review of Salford University, Graphic Design Course

(5)·By Sareena E·Art· Jun 2025
I'm currently studying Graphic Design at the University of Salford, and it’s been an amazing experience. The course offers a great mix of digital and traditional design techniques, with hands-on projects that really help develop your skills. The tutors are supportive and bring real industry experience to the table, having worked with big names like Disney and the BBC. The New Adelphi building is a fantastic creative space, and being in Greater Manchester means there are plenty of networking opportunities with design studios and galleries nearby. I’ve also had the chance to work on live briefs and enter competitions, which has been invaluable for building my portfolio. Overall, it’s a course that truly prepares you for a career in design.

I go to the University of Salford; the course I take there is law, and I really enjoy it. You have great opportunities in this university, such as going to morning classes and attending different law events. Something that really stood out to me is knowing that the whole campus is together. Overall, the vibe of Salford University is amazing; the people are so nice and kind. It makes being there a joy.

FIMS

The staff are amazing teachers. I’ve never had teachers who fully supported my ideas and that I felt wanted me to succeed, especially in art courses where your work is so personal to you. They take time to listen with actual interest and excitement at your development as a creative. They are all down to earth yet very knowledgeable people in the industry, helping guide you towards your best outcomes. The course feels like a family, with everyone being on their own individual path but all striving to achieve their best. I am truly thankful for being in this course, and although very tough and mentally challenging, I know it’s pushing me to break my own limited thoughts to become more than a fashion student but an innovator. The classroom is very welcoming and you can feel that everyone loves the course as well. Going to Salford was the best choice for me as I’ve heard this environment is very hard to come by in other universities. The class time is shared between less than 30 people so you have opportunities to actually talk to a tutor in time of need. I don’t live on campus but I find my classmates as genuine friends over the time shared with them, and as a naturally anxious person, this has been great for me settling into independent life away from home. Overall, I can’t recommend FIMS enough.
