My experience so far has been amazing, and I can’t wait to see what else this university has to offer.
The university itself is very diverse, and the students and staff are social and helpful.

Staff and support services are approachable and helpful, with diverse, inclusive classrooms and good wellbeing support available.
Living on campus in Avery Hill Student Village means your accommodation is just steps from lectures, the gym, café, shop, and launderette, which many students find very convenient. You’re part of a community of around 1,200 students.
On-campus halls offer varying room types, including shared flats with private bedrooms and some flats with en-suite facilities. Wi-Fi is included, and there is 24/7 residential support. There is a free inter-campus bus to Greenwich and other sites. If your course is based at Greenwich Campus, commuting is manageable with the free university shuttle bus and local buses linking to rail and Tube stations. London transport can get you into central London in about 30–40 minutes by train or Tube, making it good for exploring or nightlife.
I appreciate the supportive tutors and practical focus of my degree. However, some parts of programmes could be more modern or better organised, which varies by department and year.
Social life at Avery Hill is a mix. Living on campus makes it easy to meet people, with shared halls, common areas, and onsite facilities helping to build connections. Student clubs and societies run by the Students’ Union (GSU) offer plenty of chances to connect, and there are lots of sport and outdoor spaces if you enjoy activities.
There isn’t a lot to do on campus itself, and things can feel quiet if you’re not into organised events. Nightlife and bigger social events are more accessible in central London, so you might head into town on weekends.
