Love it here

Maybe there could be more bus access specifically for Cardiff University, such as a shuttle bus that goes from Heath, Talybont, Cambrian Point, and Blackweir down to campus locations like the Glamorgan Building and the library.

Best uni

Student life at Cardiff is lively and engaging. The city has a strong student presence, making it easy to meet people and feel part of a community. Societies, sports clubs, and events run regularly, so there’s always something going on. There is a good balance between a fun social atmosphere and a city that still feels manageable and not overwhelming. During peak academic periods, it can be difficult to balance social life with workload.

The Finance & Accounting course is well-structured and relevant, with content that links closely to real-world business and financial decision-making. Lecturers are knowledgeable, and the course develops strong analytical and quantitative skills. The practical application of theory is especially useful for careers in finance. However, some modules can feel exam-heavy, and more continuous assessment or practical case-based work could improve learning.

The commute is generally convenient. Many students live within walking distance of campus, and public transport is reliable and affordable, making daily travel relatively stress-free. At busy times, buses can be crowded, which can be frustrating.

Accommodation options are varied, with both university halls and private housing available. Halls are a great way to settle in and meet people in first year, while private accommodation later on offers more independence. A downside is that rent prices have been rising, and good-quality housing can be competitive.

Cardiff has a strong social scene, with plenty of nightlife, restaurants, and student-friendly venues. Most places are close together, making nights out and social plans easy to organise. While this is a big positive, it can sometimes be distracting during exam periods.

Cardiff University offers a supportive academic environment and an enjoyable student lifestyle. The sense of community, course relevance, and the city itself are highlights. Areas for improvement mainly relate to cost of living pressures and balancing academic intensity with social opportunities.

Everything about the course is great—I love the student life, and there is so much to do socially with everyone. The accommodation is good, and I especially enjoy the social scene at night.

Cardiff Uni review

Cardiff University is a great place to study. The campus is modern and well-equipped, and the city has a vibrant student life. The lecturers are knowledgeable and supportive, and there are plenty of resources available for students. I enjoyed my time here and would recommend it to others. Cardiff University is great in terms of student life, the courses, commute options, accommodation, and the social scene.

Civil course

(5)·By Aya D·Civil Engineering· Jun 2024
Key parts of my course include competency tests, which means that the module's passing elements can be completed online and retaken until the passing mark is achieved. This helps to reduce some of the stress associated with end-of-year exams. Additionally, there is a student board where we can provide feedback related to our courses, and sometimes changes will be implemented while we are still completing the module.

My first year at Cardiff University has been such an enriching experience. I’ve met many new people from various backgrounds and had numerous new experiences. I fell in love with my course, and the standard of education is amazing at Cardiff. The views and excellent study spaces truly motivate me to spend more time studying. I couldn’t fault my experience at Cardiff.

the friendly city

(5)·By Neve P·English Studies· Jun 2024
Over the last 1.5 years I’ve been in Cardiff, I’ve never had a bad experience with any staff or fellow students. It seems as if everyone is truly happy to be there. With the Student Union and many other buildings offering study spaces, cafes, snacks, and personally modified help for students, that’s probably a good reason to enjoy going into campus every day. The campus is widely spread but also close together, so there are many different people you’ll see day to day. Additionally, everything in the city centre, the uni itself holds many events such as club nights, balls, and awards evenings, giving ample opportunities to students! Personally, I am glad that I chose to come here over some of the other universities I applied for as I feel human and appreciated for what I submit to my tutors and by the people I have met here :)

I study environmental geography and the course is very interesting. I lived in Talybont South in my first year, and it was a great experience. It had a very sociable and community feel. The nights out were always enjoyable and I would often see friendly faces.
