The Finance & Accounting course is well-structured and relevant, with content that links closely to real-world business and financial decision-making. Lecturers are knowledgeable, and the course develops strong analytical and quantitative skills. The practical application of theory is especially useful for careers in finance. However, some modules can feel exam-heavy, and more continuous assessment or practical case-based work could improve learning.
The commute is generally convenient. Many students live within walking distance of campus, and public transport is reliable and affordable, making daily travel relatively stress-free. At busy times, buses can be crowded, which can be frustrating.
Accommodation options are varied, with both university halls and private housing available. Halls are a great way to settle in and meet people in first year, while private accommodation later on offers more independence. A downside is that rent prices have been rising, and good-quality housing can be competitive.
Cardiff has a strong social scene, with plenty of nightlife, restaurants, and student-friendly venues. Most places are close together, making nights out and social plans easy to organise. While this is a big positive, it can sometimes be distracting during exam periods.
Cardiff University offers a supportive academic environment and an enjoyable student lifestyle. The sense of community, course relevance, and the city itself are highlights. Areas for improvement mainly relate to cost of living pressures and balancing academic intensity with social opportunities.
