* political and social structure
* art and visual culture
* religion and social life
In philosophy, you'll cover the traditional areas of ethics, reasoning and logic. You’ll have the opportunity to explore how these areas feed into contemporary interests such as social philosophy, environmental ethics, and artificial intelligence.
You'll also be able contrast philosophical traditions developed in ancient Greece and Rome with those developed in India and China.
"At first, it was very daunting walking in there, because you don’t know what level other people are at. The majority of people had studied it before, but there were also quite a few people that were in my shoes and hadn’t. It did take you back to the very basics and that was so useful because I knew next to nothing!" - [Ciara Murphy, Classical Civilisation BA](https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/humanities/departments/classics-and-archaeology/study-with-us/our-students/ciara-murphy.aspx "Student profile of Ciara")
