A combined BSc in Archaeology (Science) (75%) offers the chance to explore the long-term histories of human societies through their material remains and impact on past environments. Through lectures, seminars, practicals, and laboratory classes—including four weeks of archaeological fieldwork—you will gain a thorough grounding in archaeological methods, theory, and professional practice (accredited by the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists). You will also develop valuable transferable skills in teamwork, communication, critical analysis, and independent research, culminating in an archaeology dissertation in your final year. Please note that it is not possible to move from 75% to 50% in this degree.
Our Minor in Catalan is designed to develop exceptional linguistic competence, enabling students to reach proficiency by the completion of their studies. Through rigorous and progressive language training, you will refine advanced skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Teaching is enriched by authentic cultural texts and contemporary news materials, fostering informed engagement with society across Catalan-speaking regions. A dynamic programme of extracurricular activities further enhances your experience, while an optional Year Abroad strengthens fluency and deepens intercultural understanding. Studying Catalan strengthens your CV, signalling initiative, adaptability and specialist expertise sought by employers at home and internationally.
Combined Degrees
Most Combined Degrees allow you to adapt the weighting of each by 25% after the first year, helping you to keep your options open. Please note, however, students studying either a Business or Economics pathway in combination with another subject cannot increase from 25% to 50% or from 50% to 75% and it is not possible to transfer from a 50% to 75% Law. Extended Project
Applicants who offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and 3 A levels and meet our offer criteria will be made the standard offer, plus an alternative offer. This will be at one A Level grade lower plus a grade B in the EPQ, for example the offer would be BBB or BBC plus B in the EPQ.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
30 points overall with no score less than 4 or pass the IB Diploma plus 5,5,5 in 3 HL subjects.
WJEC Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales
