Our Human Nutrition and Health BSc (Hons) provides a strong scientific foundation combined with applied professional skills, enabling you to understand how nutrition influences health, disease prevention and wellbeing across the life course. The programme integrates biochemistry, physiology, metabolism, food science and clinical and public health nutrition, ensuring you graduate with rigorous scientific knowledge and the ability to apply it to real-world health challenges.
You will explore major global priorities including obesity, metabolic disease, malnutrition, sustainability and healthy ageing, developing the confidence to evaluate scientific evidence, interpret nutritional data and design effective strategies to improve health outcomes for individuals and populations.
Our refreshed curriculum strengthens employability throughfocus areas like personalised nutrition, metabolism, microbiology, food integrity, sustainable food systems and applied food innovation. Teaching includes laboratory practicals, case-based learning and research-led content, helping you develop analytical, communication and problem-solving skills valued by employers.
In your final year, you will integrate advanced scientific knowledge with an independent research project, preparing you for careers in healthcare, public health, research, food and nutraceutical industries or postgraduate study.
The programme is accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN), supporting professional registration.
This programme may include a range of learning activities such as on-campus teaching, practical sessions, workshops, placements or field-based work. These activities form part of the core learning experience.
