New digital technologies are also being harnessed to create ‘smarter’ operations, conscious of the global environmental challenges society faces.**<br/><br/>Developed with extensive input from industry experts, our Aviation and Airport Management degree will help your career ‘take off’ in this dynamic sector. Using our state-of-the-art facilities including our Aviation and Tourism Suite, you will gain a deep understanding of the aviation environment and practices through simulated and real-life industry projects, visiting airports, networking with experts and learning first-hand how the industry functions.<br/><br/>One of the benefits of our course is the option of a four-year degree with a 48-week paid work placement, giving you a distinctive advantage in a competitive job market. A number of our students have also worked part-time at Birmingham Airport, and with the airport’s £500 million expansion plan to become the ‘Midlands Gateway to the World’, there are fantastic opportunities on your doorstep both during and after your studies.<br/><br/>**WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE?**<br/>- **Work placement** – Boost your career prospects and first-hand industry experience with a paid 48-week placement, during which you won’t incur any tuition fees<br/><br/><br/>- **Practical application** – Put your skills to the test studying in our cutting-edge aviation facilities and working on industry projects, along with opportunities for part-time work<br/><br/><br/>- **Enrichment** – Gain unique industry insight through visits to major airports – past students have visited Dubai, Istanbul, Budapest, Finland, Berlin and Amsterdam<br/><br/><br/>- **Industry approved** – Study at an Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) Centre of Excellence, with opportunities to attend conferences and events as well as applying for professional memberships <br/><br/><br/>**FACILITIES**<br/>Students on our aviation courses have access to outstanding simulation facilities in our Aviation and Tourism Suite, featuring a state-of-the-art mock plane cabin as well as check-in areas, a working security gate and Galileo GDS system for training students.<br/><br/>You will also have the chance to develop new skills in our Digital Creative Studio, featuring state-of-the-art video and audio production facilities including a video production studio with 4K cameras and green screen technology, audio podcasting, vision mixing and editing facilities, as well as high-spec computers with Adobe Creative Cloud software and graphics tablets.<br/><br/>**ACCREDITATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS**<br/>University College Birmingham is a recognised Institute of Travel and Tourism Centre of Excellence.<br/><br/>This course has been developed with extensive input from industry experts, including Swissport.<br/><br/>**PLACEMENTS**<br/>Our course features a 48-week paid placement, during which you will not incur any tuition fees. (There is also the option to study the course without a placement.) Opportunities are also available for part-time work during the summer months.<br/><br/>Please note: All formal placements depend on availability and are subject to an application/interview process.
