It has been created to provide you with a strong foundation of the necessary disciplines, skills and techniques to work in the TV and Film industry in the first year. In the second year, we work to specialise and film for and alongside industry clients.
Unlike broad based media production courses, this degree focuses on these specific sectors to allow you to refine your study ready for targeted employment opportunities. Importantly, the degree is also preparing for the future and will be engaging in some immersive and interactive projects as technology and broadcasting capabilities evolve.
The competitive field of film and television often requires multi-skilled freelance practitioners that can produce content from initial inception to the final exhibition. Students will be encouraged to plan, script, budget, produce and direct within a range of genres and projects. Students will be taught on-site with privy to professional grade filming kit, edit suites, a fully equipped TV studio and gallery but also will shoot on location and in a variety of settings akin to industry projects. Whilst contemporary practices will be dominate, students will also be taught how to shoot on 35mm film to build their creativity and breadth of film knowledge.
Using experienced industry and expert educational staff, we aim to teach our graduates to not only have the technical skills but also competent business knowledge, an ability to self-promote, liaise with clients and build the resilience to work in this ever-changing industry.
