This course is subject to validation. <br/><br/>Throughout the course you will develop skills from a combination of academic study and clinical placement with an approved veterinary practice which much be achieved to allow for registration as a qualified Veterinary Nurse. You will learn the veterinary nursing competencies required to undertake practical patient care and theatre duties. Regular clinical skills labs will prepare you for practical clinical examinations. You will gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of veterinary nursing by studying a wide range of subjects incorporating anatomy, physiology, nursing skills, pharmacology, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, theatre and surgical practice and animal welfare and behaviour. Much of your third year will be spent on a placement in an approved veterinary practice.<br/><br/>This course is highly competitive. Relevant veterinary work experience and a good personal statement are essential. We also recommend you attend an on-campus Open Day to find out more, prior to application.<br/><br/>This course will allow you to graduate as a Registered Veterinary Nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) which is the professional qualification required to practice as a veterinary nurse in the UK.
