Data Science Bachelor of Science (with Honours) - BSc (Hons)

Data is a global language. On the Data Science BSc at Newcastle, you’ll learn to translate it across systems, industries, and borders.

What do flood risk management and football players have in common? To get the best out of both, you need to dig into the data. Our BSc in Data Science gives you the mathematical understanding and coding expertise you’ll need to read complex datasets and come to conclusions about them.

We’ll teach you how to use data to develop solutions to pressing problems, and to interpret what you find critically. You’ll also become an expert in communicating to diverse audiences, so you can make changes across spheres from sports to science.

Data Science combines elements of mathematics, statistics and computing. To reflect the unique ways that data scientists use these disciplines, we’ve created a specialist curriculum that explores the interplay between the three. Classroom sessions are complemented by hands-on teaching from the National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD).  

This way, you’re able to use each aspect of data science seamlessly together, in the way you will professionally. You’ll learn about modern machine learning, AI, and computational workflows, reflecting what’s happening in industry and research.
