If you’re excited by creativity, materials and visual design, BA (Hons) Textiles at Manchester Met invites you to explore one of the most dynamic and fast‑evolving areas of the creative industries. Textiles are everywhere - fashion, interiors, architecture, automotive design, future materials - and this course gives you the chance to shape how textiles look, feel and function in the world. You’ll explore the rich heritage of textile making while also learning how new technologies, sustainable materials and innovative processes are transforming the field.
From day one, you’ll get hands-on creating experience with specialist workshops, building core skills in areas such as print, weave, knit, embroidery and mixed media. These creative spaces are supported by expert academics and technicians who are practising designers and researchers. You’ll experiment with materials, test ideas and respond to real-world scenarios through industry-linked briefs across sectors like apparel, architecture, automotive design and Colour, Material and Finish (CMF).
The course encourages you to become a thoughtful, human‑centred designer who understands both the practical and conceptual possibilities of textiles. You’ll be supported to develop your personal interests and ambitions, while growing into a confident problem-solver ready for a global industry.
