Exercise is a powerful tool - from supporting elite performance to helping prevent and manage conditions such as obesity, cancer and depression. Our BSc (Hons) Health and Exercise Science degree explores how exercise affects the body and how training can be adapted when health conditions influence a person’s ability to be active. Exercise is a powerful tool - from supporting elite performance to helping prevent and manage conditions such as obesity, cancer and depression. Our BSc (Hons) Health and Exercise Science degree explores how exercise affects the body and how training can be adapted when health conditions influence a person’s ability to be active. You’ll study human biology, physiology and psychology to understand how the body responds to physical, psychological and environmental stressors.
Across a wide range of modules, you’ll build a strong scientific foundation before progressing to more advanced study of exercise, health and performance. You’ll also develop practical skills through laboratory work, applied training methods and research‑informed teaching.
In your final year, you’ll complete a major research project in an area that interests you most. With access to our £26m Institute of Sport and support from leading academics, you’ll graduate with the specialist knowledge and practical skills to pursue a career in health, exercise or sport.
This course is also available with a foundation year.
