Our industry-informed Data Science BSc equips you with the skills to analyse complex data, uncover insights and communicate findings that shape decisions across a wide range of industries. You will build a strong foundation in maths, statistics and programming, before developing expertise in data analysis, machine learning and artificial intelligence, alongside data visualisation and communication skills.

The programme combines theory with practical experience using real datasets and tools used in industry. Explore areas such as cloud computing, databases and advanced AI, and learn to design and implement data-led solutions. In your final year, you’ll complete an independent project, applying your knowledge to a practical problem while showcasing your creativity, technical expertise and ability to deliver impactful insights. You’ll also develop an understanding of the professional, economic, social, environmental, moral and ethical considerations involved in data analysis, graduating as a responsible, forward-thinking professional.

Throughout the programme there’s a variety of teaching and learning activities informed by and involving our partners from industry. This includes a series of guest lectures from organisations such as Microsoft, the BBC, and CapGemini, as well as grouped and individual projects potentially involving real-world data from industry.

From dedicated professional development sessions and industry guest lectures to tailored careers support, employability is embedded throughout your studies. The programme also includes the option to enhance your experience through either a flexible-short or year-long industry placement. Alternatively, if you’re interested in teaching, a specialist option offers experience in educational settings.
