Nursing (Adult) with Foundation Year

Study a health foundation year and learn the key concepts and principles in health and social care to complete a full Honours degree. You'll be able to begin this qualification without meeting the level 3 entry requirements, gaining the essential skills required to succeed in degree-level education and professional practice.

Although the Foundation Year itself is not accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), successful completion, alongside meeting key entry requirements such as DBS and Occupational Health clearance, allows you to progress onto an NMC-approved nursing degree.

You can then embark on your nursing career as you study on our innovative and research-based BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing degree with Foundation Year at Canterbury Christ Church. Not only will you gain the vital skills needed for you to become a confident and competent nursing professional, but you’ll also be eligible to apply for registration with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) upon graduation.

Following the foundation year, throughout the first year of the full degree you'll study with other nursing students across other nursing disciplines, learning the fundamental of the profession, taking part in simulated learning and undertaking clinical practice placements. Years two and three will focus on your chosen field, continuing with both simulated practice and real-world placements, ensuring you become a professional and competent newly qualified nurse.

Professional accreditation

On completion of the course, you will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Adult Nurse. Our newly approved course meets the NMC 2023 standards.
