The course aims to develop your knowledge and understanding in theoretical and applied psychology as well as providing the opportunity to gain experience through work placement whilst continually reflecting on the links between theory and practice. This is achieved by the inclusion of practical assessments within taught modules, such as report and case study assignments as well as by the focus on work-related learning in Level 5 and the opportunities for studying applied psychology areas through the Level 4 module “Psychology in Everyday Life”.
As part of the FDSc Psychology, you have to complete work-based learning in an area related to Psychology (e.g. social care, health care, education, sports and business) and link your placement experience to further work-related learning on other modules in the course.
You will develop your knowledge and understanding of practical psychological methods such as report writing, poster presentations and case study assignments.
Through the University of South Wales Psychology Plus scheme, you will have the unique opportunity to gain clinical experience on Treforest campus by taking part in activities at their psychology clinics.
